I'm back

After many months away from posting, I am back. If anyone cares.
The reason it has been so long is because I thought I had forgotten my sign on and password but turns out that it was just what I thought it was. Silly me.

We just got back from a week long vacation to Gulf Shores. It was our second trip and it was once again fabulous. We are so thankful to God for His kindness to allow us the resources to be able to go and spend some time relaxing as a family. Skip has been sooo busy (once again, a huge blessing) so it was good for him to be away from work for a little while.

Bob and Kay went with us. It was a good time had by all.

Above are a few pics from the trip.

Next blog will be about the really great cruise we took to see dolphins, with video !!!! :)

Thankful

Today, Connor our 5 year old, had surgery to remove a dermoid cyst that was located on the back of his skull. He has had it since birth but it appears to have started growing in the last couple of months. Thanks for the pro-active thinking of our pediatrician, Dr. Martin, she sent us to ACH general surgery clinic last week. Dr. Jackson thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and remove it. So it was done today.
Connor is just the cutest, sweetest boy. He was very brave. He kept asking for dad. Skip was able to get there a little before surgery which was wonderful. He is daddy's boy. God is so good to us. My sister, Lynn, works at ACH, so she came by and saw us. She knew the anethestialogist (no idea of how to spell that) and was able to walk back with him to the OR room. Which gave us great comfort. He has already had the "joy juice" to relax him and he pretty much was. He was slurring his words and giggling. It was cute. Wonderful, Pastor Todd came by and read to us from Psalms about how God takes care of His sheep so tenderly. Perfect for me, Skip and our little one to hear. Prayed the sweetest prayer and we got to visit for a while. It is always great to spend time with Todd no matter what the reason or event. :) Nonie came by with an Elmo balloon which was also a hit in addition to having Nonie there too.
Anyway, he woke up fine except for the "ouchy" in his hand which was the IV. He complained more about that then the incision on the back of his head. :)
So now he is outside playing with friends and is fine.
What a blessing to live in a country where we have these wonderfully skilled people to care and treat our children and wonderful friends and family to be with us and pray with and for us.
Thanks again for all who prayed.

memories for me

I am posting this mainly as a memory for me.

I had to ask Colby and Cameron some questions for a charter school application I was filling out for them. Here are the questions and their answers:
What are your three favorite books and why?:
Cameron: age 6 "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly." It is funny
"I Spy" It is really funny.
"The Three little pigs" It teaches you that if someone isn't there, you shouldn't go in there.

Colby:age 8 "Night of the ninja's" because it is about ninja's.
"Pirates past noon" because it was interesting.
"Beastcrest" because it has dragons in it.

If you could have three wishes come true, what would you wish?
Cameron: age 6 "money for our whole family
a trampoline
sins to be saved

Colby: age 8 an x-box 360
as much money as I want
as much food and clothes as we can have

What would you would tell a new friend about yourself?
Cameron: age 6 I am Fun
I like the color green
I would like to be a frog (to know what flies taste like.)

Colby: age 8 I am really funny
I like to ride bikes, scooters, and skateboards.
I would like to b e a football or baseball player.

Funny what kids think of off the top of their heads.

snow pictures

Since everyone else posted pics of there kids playing in the snow. I thought I should too. It was cold (duh!) so I didn't take many and they aren't the best but here they are. My camera isn't the best but at least I have one, right?
The first one is of Cameron, the next one is of Connor pushing a giant snowball, then Colby, Colby and everyone
Connor, Colby, Cameron and friend Conly building a snow man at a neighbors yard. I guess our snow wasn't enough or something.n

Why 5 boys and a girl

You may ask yourself, "Self, why does Janet call this blog, 5 boys and a girl?" When I started this blog a few years ago, it was my own way of keeping account of the happenings and sayings of our children. At the time, it was 5 boys and a girl. But in God's timing, He decided it was time for one of our boys to go home to be with him. It was two years ago that our oldest boy, Cory, passed away. God in His good and great character was sooo gracious to us and continues to be. We are so thankful for the time we had with Cory while on this earth and look forward to seeing him once again in heaven. Heaven, where he will be whole, perfect and "not broken" anymore.

picture of my wonderful family

I have nothing new to post but thought I would post a picture of my wonderful family.
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family who loves me in spite of my failings and short falls (and believe me there are many). They are an example of Christ's love for me, just as I am. :)
aren't they a great looking bunch?

Update?

Obviously, I haven't posted in a while. I read so many other peoples blogs. They are all such good writers and have such wonderful things to say. One of the reasons that I don't write often. I can't figure out how to post pictures or links. I will work on that. I would love to write about all the wonderful things I am learning about God but I struggle just to keep up with my daily bible reading. I know I am learning but it is hard to reduce it to writing. I have been quite busy with Real Estate lately. Praie the Lord!!! I have several people looking for houses so that is a real encouragement. I really enjoy it. I think I get more excited than the actual buyers do when they receive an accepted offer on a house. The kids are great. Nothing funny to report. Give me time though. One thing to brag about though---Colby came in 2nd place in his school's spelling bee. He is in 2nd grade. He gets his brains from his father. :) Guess that is all for now. I will try to post again soon if I can think of anything to share.
